Apparently Julie killed off Kol because he was too dark of a character. If that’s true then she really must lack brain cells especially if she thinks the other vampire’s are all rainbows and sunshine.
Pretty sure that all Kol did in this season was to try to save the world and everyone’s asses….before getting murdered.

No matter how much she wants to speak, to scream, or taking another breath to fill her lungs with air, but she couldn’t. Feeling his cheek against hers, she winced inwardly but there’s no visible movement from her, because Kol’s hand still on her throat, suffocating her. Becoming lightheaded, Elena only can take short little gasps of air. A split second later, another sharp of pain, a really painful one, hit her gut. Her eyes widened in shock, this time a loud gasp succeed escaping from her lips. “No.” She answered stubbornly, followed by grunts of pain, fighting the pain throughout her body. Even though she’s trying hard to pull his hand away from her throat, there’s no enough strength left, “Just.. kill me…. And get.. this.. over with.. Kol.”
With his right hand soaked in her blood, he stroked her cold cheek gently, playing with Elena’s hair as if he was genuinely cared for her “Oh I certainly will, sweet Elena.” Nothing else in this world that could subdue his bliss over the chance he was given. “I could just detached your head from your neck right about now —but where’s the fun in that? I never thought I would say this, but I enjoy your company.” Contrary to his words, his hand swiftly went for her spine, —broke it as if it was nothing. “No need to worry, about the pain, darling. It’ll be over when I want it over.”
